Educational Qualification for OSSC vacancy: 

Sub-Inspector of Traffic:

• Candidates must have passed a Bachelor’s degree from any recognized University or Institution in Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering or Law or possess such other educational qualification equivalent to such degree obtained from a University established by an Act of the Parliament or State Legislature or other Educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or the State Legislature or declared to be deemed as Universities under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. or a foreign University approved by the Central Government.

Sub-Inspector of Excise:

• Candidates must have passed a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University or such other educational qualification as may be considered equivalent thereto; and
• Have a Bachelor’s degree from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or a State Legislature in India or an Educational Institution established by an Act of Parliament or deemed to be a University under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government: Provided that, in case of candidates who joined approved military services must have passed Intermediate Examination from any recognized University which shall be sufficient

Age Limit ( As on 01 January 2024): 

• Sub-Inspector: 21 – 38 Years

Age Relaxation for Govt Jobs in Odisha:

• The upper age limit is relaxable by 05 years for candidates belonging to SEBC, SC, ST & all Women candidates
• 10 years for candidates belonging to the PwD category & the total period of service rendered in defence service in the case of Ex-servicemen.
• PwD candidates in the ST & SC category shall be entitled to cumulative age relaxation of ten years over & above the normal relaxation specified for the category.

Selection Process of OSSC Recruitment:

• The selection process will be based on Written Examination/Physical Measurement and Physical Efficiency Test/Certification Verification

Stage – I: Written Examination:

• One Paper for 150 Marks
• The question will be of MCQ type (0MR/CBRE).
• There shall be negative marking @ 0.25 marks for each wrong answer if some options are four, @ 0.33 if the options are three and so forth. ID
• The Commission shall prepare a list of candidates who obtain minimum qualifying marks in the Written Examination as fixed by.
• The Commission may fix different minimum qualifying  marks  for different category candidates(UR,  SC, ST, SEBC).   The Commission will call approximately ten (10) times the number of vacancies for each category of candidates for PM & PET. If enough candidates do not pass the PM & PET to fill up the vacancies of any category, the Commission may call another group of candidates from that category for PM & PET
• At  least three weeks will be there between the date of publication of the written result and the date of PM & PET

Stage – II: Physical Measurement and Physical Efficiency Test

• Physical Measurement (PM) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) will be qualifying in nature.
• The candidates qualifying in Physical Measurement shall be eligible to appear in the Physical Test.
• The candidates qualifying both in the Physical Measurements & Physical Test will be called for Certificate Verification.

Stage – III:  Certificate Verification:

• The candidature for the posts of the candidate shall be cancelled who remain absent in certificate verification.
• No request for change of date of certificate verification ordinarily shall be entertained.

• Board of Revenue/EIC(Electricity)-Cum- PCEI (0)/Commissioner of Endowment/State Transport Authority(Field Offices)/Chief Architect: 
  • Candidates must have passed +2 Arts/Science/Commerce examination conducted by CHSE, Odisha or equivalent examination with basic knowledge in computer application. Minimum speed of 80 words per minute in shorthand both in English and Odia.
• EIC, Water Resources: Must have passed HSC examination conducted by BSE, Odisha or equivalent examination with ITI (Stenographer) with Computer knowledge.

Junior Grade Typist:

• Commissioner of Endowment: Matriculation (10 pass) with typing speed of 40 WPM and knowledge in Computer Application.

General Eligibility:

• Must have passed Middle School Examination with Odia as language subject, or
• Must have passed HSC Examination or equivalent examination with Odia as Medium of examination in non-language subject, or
• Must have passed in Odia as language subject in the final examination of Class- VII or above from a school or educational institution recognised by the Govt. of Odisha or the Central Govt. or
• Must have passed a test in Odia in Middle English School standard conducted by the School and Mass Education Department, Govt. of Odisha.

• Candidates approximately -25 times the number of vacancies for the post of Junior Stenographer and Junior Grade Typist category-wise and post-wise will be shortlisted for Main Written Examination based on marks obtained in Preliminary Examination

Stage – II: Main Written Examination:

• Language Paper for 100 Marks
• Candidates approximately 15 times the number for the post of Junior Stenographer and Junior Grade Typist category-wise and post-wise will be called for Stage-III based on performance in Main Written Examination

Stage – III

• Computer Skill Test (For all Posts) – 50 Marks

Stage – IV: Certificate Verification:
